THE SAN FRANCISCO STORE GRAND OPENING PARTY

The New Store Honors the Wattis Institute to Celebrate Its Official Opening

Oliver Peoples is proud toannounce the openingof our newest boutique in San Francisco. Last night (March 13, 2014), CEO David Schulte and Founder and Creative Director Larry Leight joined Sabrina Buell and Yves Behar to host a cocktail party in honor of theWattis Institutefor Contemporary Arts at California College of the Arts and to celebrate the official grand opening. As guests sipped cocktails, they had the opportunity to explore the new boutique and the distinctive architectural identity that was envisioned by Leight and fashioned by Los Angeles-based design-build practiceMarmol Radziner, as well as view the new collection and collaborations from the brand.

To support the emerging talent of students at CCA, Junior Nina Strumfels and Senior Erick Lopez of the Fashion Design program were on hand at the event, demonstrating the creative process garnered through their studies.  Nina and Erick envisioned iconic frames from the Oliver Peoples collection into striking fashion illustrations, detailing the wearer’s look and personality defined by the style of the frame.

Guests of the night included Amanda Hearst, the Oliver Peoples 2014 campaign star, as well as several influential San Francisco-based individuals representing different facets of the richly cultured city.

About Wattis Institute for Contemporary Arts at California College of the Arts

Founded in 1998, the Wattis Institute at the California College of the Arts has earned a national and international reputation for risk-taking and innovative curatorial approaches. It is a hub for out-of-the-box thinking and for new ideas about the role of a university-affiliated contemporary art institution.  Occupying a rare niche between artist-run space and museum, the Wattis has the freedom to engage with acclaimed luminaries as well as more obscure figures. It offers a forward-thinking exhibition program in the context of a pedagogically progressive art school, allowing a diverse range of artists, thinkers, and educators from around the world to participate in a critical dialogue around contemporary art and ideas.
