Peoples is pleased to announce the fifth and final collaboration series with fashion label TAKAHIROMIYASHITA TheSoloIst., by Japanese designer Takahiro
Miyashita. Known for edgy cult menswear brand Number (N)ine, Miyashita has
challenged the standard of traditional eyewear in the previous four collection series. Miyashita’s innovation, cutting-edge designs
and unhindered imagination harmonized with Oliver Peoples’ iconic, vintage
aesthetic to develop the Fifth Collection of six new styles.
as particular about eyewear as he is clothes, and he has always found
inspiration in the understated styling and meticulous designs of Oliver
Peoples. For the final collection,
Miyashita utilized three different categories of materials that speak to Oliver
Peoples’ care for fine manufacturing and detailing: acetate, combination and
metal. The six styles each play a distinctive
role in the collection and coalesce to graciously conclude the collaboration.
“The Fifth Collection is the perfect
finale for years of successful collaboration,” says Larry Leight, Oliver
Peoples Founder and Creative Director. “Each
collection has offered a new approach to unite our brands’ unique aesthetics
and reach for innovation. This series not only continues to push the boundaries
of eyewear, but simultaneously takes queues from our previous styles in respect
to all of our collaborative series.”
The first two in the series (of 6) to be released are The Woody (sg.0001) and John
(sg.0002) styles combine beautiful acetate colors on a crystal frame front with mahogany temple, complemented by indigo CR-39 lenses. The Woody features a rectangular shape,
while the John has the
vintage-inspired P3 shape. The original
Oliver People plaque adorns the bridge of each style and was laminated to the
acetate by a special temple manufacturer, as the standard acetate frame
factories could not materialize these fastidiously designed frames. The light
blue lenses with a signature “left eye” laminate, recognized from previous
series of collaborations, makes these frames identifiable.
The Woody and John are currently available for purchase
exclusively in Asia and will arrive in limited quantities at the Oliver Peoples Soho, Malibu, and Sunset boutiques in October. Look for other styles in the series at the end of the year.
