Project Markivim In Israel Inspired by Oliver Peoples Eyewear Gathers Steam!

Project Markivim, by artist Dafna Talmon, started about one year ago with an innocent enough purchase of a pair of over-sized Oliver Peoples eyeglasses. Interest gathered, and when people wouldn’t stop asking to try them on, Talmon started snapping, and has been snapping ever since.

Participants in the Project include: Artist Nir Hod, Musicians Rufus Wainwright, Laurie Anderson, Beri Saharof, Aviv Geffen, Idan Alterman and Sharon Kantor; actors Riki Blich, Leon Rosenberg and Pini Tebeger; writer Ram Oren and journalist Raanan Shaked; Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai and Knesset Member Dov Hanin… Also taking part are hundreds of other friends, family members and pets. Photographs of various individuals wearing the frame (OP Tycoon) have been snapped during various social events, gallery openings and political gatherings

The project quickly took off and caught the attention of the press, even winning won several favorable mentions in daily newspapers and online news portals. Now the project is about to go to the next level. Currently residing at Talmon’s Flickr Page, Talmon is planning a public urban-interactive exhibition, which will combine aspects of fashion, social networking, online sharing, lose of self and limitless exhibitionism, as well as harness the project’s gravity to aid those in need.

While the project continues growing with more participants interested in Talmon’s lenses and then captured by lens of her camera, curator Moran Shoub and designer Pazit Baniyamin are now working with Talmon to bring the resulting exhibition to life. The showcase will focus on involving the visitors in the show itself by being included as subjects of the photos on display. Visitors will be encouraged to bring old and discarded pairs of corrective or sun glasses. These will be gathered when the exhibition is over and donated to Unite For Sight, an International Non-profit Organization that delivers eye-care outreach around the world.

Talmon is now seeking financial support or sponsorship to aid in realizing the goal of this proposed exhibition. Contact Talmon at +972 (52) 345 0909 or by email at .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).
