New Chicago Location

BY Oliver Peoples | June 30, 2011

Bringing a taste of cachet and culture to the Windy City, the luxury eyewear brand Oliver Peoples is breezing into the citys prestigious Gold Coast neighborhood just in time to usher in summer. Set to open its doors early July of 2011 at the intersection of Rush and Oak Street, the boutique will offer an extensive selection of the brands distinguished sunglasses and optical frames. Known for its progressive and trendsetting designs, the boutique will cater to the citys most chic and fashion-forward shoppers. With an endless amount of celebrity fans such as Katie Holmes, Kanye West and Angelina Jolie, as well as successful collaborations with well-known fashion icons such as Balmain and Nom De Guerre, the iconic brand is a welcome addition to Chicagos glamorous Gold Coast.

Nestled between some of the citys most impressive retail addresses, the new location will feature a similar design concept to the Oliver Peoples stores around the world, but with subtle nods to Chicagos distinctive cultural landscape. Incorporating natural materials, such as Ash wood and rock concrete floors, the boutiques interior design will embody that of the brand itself: simplistic, sartorial and sexy. The warm and welcoming décor creates a unique retail experience that is more reminiscent of a contemporary gallery than a typical frame shop.

“Chicago has always been a target city for us to open an Oliver Peoples Boutique, says David Schulte, CEO. “The citys rich design, art, and architectural heritage, in addition to the sophisticated people who live there, are a perfect match with our brand. We have always had customers from Chicago come to our other Boutiques asking when wed be opening a store there, and really it was a matter of finding the right location. Our retail strategy is brand driven, and as such we are proud to be represented in such an amazing place."

The boutique will be filled with an array of handcrafted optical frames and sunglasses from the three brands that fall within Oliver Peoples Inc. portfolio: Oliver Peoples Eyewear, Paul Smith Spectacles and Mosley Tribes. Customers may take advantage of the onsite optician who can provide consultations, custom frame fittings and prescription services.

In celebration of the boutique opening, Oliver Peoples has created an exclusive, Limited Edition aviator sunglass designed specifically to embody the classic Windy City Style. The “Oliver Peoples Loves Chicago aviator style will feature luxurious 24k gold mirror lenses with a custom stamp. The Limited Edition style retails for $595, comes with a custom case and cloth, and will be available exclusively at the Chicago boutique. Oliver Peoples is located at 941 Rush Street (the corner of Oak and Rush) and can be found online at www.oliverpeoples.com. The store phone number is 312-266-9000.
