Jil Sander
Oliver Peoples
Jil Sander and Oliver Peoples launch the Jil Sander Oliver Peoples collection of sunglasses.
The energy of contrasts infuses the Jil Sander vision. In the Jil Sander Oliver Peoples collection, this dualism becomes a balance of the angular and the organic, of the industrial and the natural, expressed through a streamlined yet tactile use of titanium and acetate.
The understated spirit favored by both brands translates into a discreet use of logos, which is subtly integrated into functional elements such as temples and nose pads. Handmade in Japan, all the sunglasses feature state-of-the-art crystal lenses crafted in Italy and marked with a breath logo.
She wears Edition 2 in Silver with Soft Silver Mirror lenses, while he is featured in Edition 1 in Gold with Carbon Grey lenses.
The collaboration is based on shared values and mutual purposes: the commitment to exceptional quality, superior craftsmanship, and pureness of shape; the utmost attention to detail and the assumption that beauty should be functional, with remarkable swiftness and lightness.
Artist Walter Pfeiffer, known for the energetic directness of his photographic gaze, lensed the launch campaign, which features a cast of diverse individuals against the backdrop of Hamburg, the place where the Jil Sander story started. The carefree spirit of the portraits captures the essence of the project, which juxtaposes the Californian roots of Oliver Peoples with the European heritage and the modernist aesthetic of Jil Sander.
The acetate styles, Edition 3 and 4, exaggerate details for a distinctive look. Sharp, ultra-horizontal lines that create graphic motifs across the face with sculptural, and hand in-laid collaboration logo plaques. The voluminous rounded details have an intentional contrast to the modern flat lenses seen throughout the collection.
Edition 6 is seen in Dark Green with Green C lenses.
Edition 2 featured in Silver with Soft Silver Mirror lenses.
The palette features custom developed tones of Dark Green, Soft Pink, and Butterscotch alongside Black and tortoise. Across styles, the combination of lenses and frames explores notions of statement ton-sur-ton or subtle contrast. For further character, the frames are paired with folded packaging recalling the gestural purity of a signature Jil Sander bag.
